Ever wonder how your Optima Hubcaps steer the way that you want them to go? Well it’s all because of a little something called a steering axle.
There are usually 3 types of axles in cars: straight axle, split axle, and tandem axle. In a straight axle, there’s a single shaft connecting two parallel wheels with OEM Hubcaps on them; the axle controls both the direction and the rotation rate of the wheels that it’s connecting. In a split axle, each of the wheels with Factory Optima Hub Caps is attached to a separate shaft on the vehicle.
When it comes to tandem axles, there’s more than one axle that’s positioned close to each other so that it can increase the weight-carrying capacity of a car.
Glad you have an axle?
