When you buy a Factory Hubcap – like Chevrolet Malibu Hubcaps – they’ll have the little Chevy bowtie emblem in the middle. When the early hubcaps were made, they were simply chrome plated & had decorative, non – functional spokes.
What’s cool is that there were some OEM Hubcaps that were immortalized in the Art Deco styling of the spire of the Chrysler Building in midtown Manhattan. If I would’ve known that when I went to New York then I would have definitely taken a picture of it.
During the 1950s & 1960s, decorating a car with Original Wheel Covers from another car was completely normal.
I wonder if we can still do that?
