When you order a cap from Hubcaps.com , it arrives to you looking brand new. Let me tell you, it doesn’t always start out that way. We specialize in Factory Original wheel covers and hubcaps. That means that we have hub caps sitting in our warehouse and our yard from years and years ago. Some of our hubcaps and center caps date from the 1950’s, such as these 1953 Chevy Corvette hubcaps .
Our guys in the restoration department take that classic, banged up wheelcover and put it through a process which restores it to it’s original condition. Depending on the cap, this process starts with the bead blaster. The back of the hub cap is blasted clean with tiny little beads under pressure. Step two includes removing all dents and dings. After all dents and dings are removed, the wheel cover is buffed. Buffing includes sanding, grinding and buffing the cap. When the cap is nice and smooth, it’s painted, dried and then it’s ready to be shipped to you.
Our restoration guys are incredible. I’ve seen their work and sometimes you’d never know that your hubcap has been on a vehicle before. They also restore customer’s wheel covers so if you have a set that needs some work, keep us in mind. Check out our caps here and see for yourself. As always, let me know what you think.
Take care,
April
