Back then, the hubcaps used to be forged from heavy steel and were usually seen as functional, if not decorative elements. As time went on, most car manufacturers realized that Hubcaps were actually a good place to put their logos. The Hubcaps from the 1920s to the 1930s took advantage of the sleek Art Deco design craze, with an emphasis on streamlining and speed – I want to say like the Chevrolet Classic Hubcaps – but the real old ones.
The war effort that took place in the 1940s caused automobile manufacturers to reduce the use of steel and chromium in decorative elements with their Hubcaps. Aluminum & different types of alloys had become the new raw material for Hubcaps.
