Aren’t Grand Marquis’ cop cars? Well they’re cop cars here in Southern California – so those are the ones that I look out for .. totally kidding. If only I can tell by their Mercury Hubcaps I’d probably be a pro and determining where cop cars were.
When it first came out in the 70s with the OEM Mercury Hubcaps standard, it was meant to represent he top trim level of the Mercury Marquis .. which is probably the reason why they named it the Grand Marquis. It had shared the basic platform with the full size LTD at the time that it was released – they eventually changed the name of LTD to the Crown Victoria.
If you were to kind of say it in an essence, the Grand Marquis was on sale and available to the public to bridge the gap between the typical Ford needed for work and the pretty expensive Lincoln sedans.
Do you have any of these models?
